Common Greenhouse Pests

In relationship to greenhouse gardening, it is very important that you don't forget about all of the essential prerequisites of reduction of weeds and soil cultivation before you resort to insecticides. * Apple Sucker: The apple sucker attacks apples and leaves behind evidence through withered petals. The solution to this common greenhouse pest is to spray lightly with a proprietary product of the BHC style, dimethoate or fenitrothion after the petals have shed.

* Bean Weevil: The bean weevil attacks beans and leaves behind evidence through semi-circular notches within the leaves. The solution to this problem is to dust on a proprietary product of the BHC style or either sprays on fenitrothion when dealing with all of the younger plants.

* Blackfly: The blackfly attacks honeysuckle, nasturtiums, and bean plants. The evidence rests within colonies of infest new growth which leads to damaged buds and stunted growth. The solution is to mist with pyrethrum or primicarb.

* Cabbage Root Fly: The cabbage root fly attacks all of the brassicas. The evidence rests in immature plants that are wilting and you should look for the appearance of maggots consuming the roots. The solution to this problem is to start all over again but making sure that all of the new seedlings is powdered well with pirimiphos-methyl.

* Capsid Bugs: The capsid bugs attacked shrubs and trees that fruit along with most of the herbaceous plants. The evidence rests in holes within the fruit and leaves. The solution to this problem is to mist with a sprayer by using Malathion or a proprietary product of the BHC style.

* Carrot Fly: The carrot fly attacks carrots and the evidence is reflected by maggots eroding the roots. The solution to this problem is to utilize an insecticide seed dressing before you plant them out.

* Caterpillars: Caterpillars attack many vegetables, flowers, hedges and fruit shrubs. The evidence of this problem is that the critters eat all of the leaves and can be easily spotted doing so. In order to get rid of this problem, you are going to need to dust or mist with derris.
